The Public Relations Officer acts as a liaison between the Police Department and the community. Informing the public about matters involving the Police Department through news agency and press releases. Through these releases, the community is informed about civic events and safety concerns. The Public Relations Officer handles civic organization lectures and presentations. Other services provided to the public through public relations include, Bicycle Registrations, Vacations Watches, Escorts, Christmas Toy Drives, and other positive activities for the youth of Sulphur.
Sergeant Mike Strother serves as the Public Relations Officer for the Sulphur Police Department. Sgt. Strother began his employment with the Sulphur Police Department in November of 1994. In addition to serving as the Public Relations Officer, Sgt. Strother also teaches D.A.R.E.
