Patrol Supervisor

Phil English

Hello, welcome to SULPHUR POLICE.COM I am a 20 year veteran of the Sulphur City Police Department. I served 19 years and 9 months in the uniformed patrol division before promoting to the Supervisor of the Patrol Division on January 1, 2000. In patrol I began my career as a patrolman on March 31, 1980 and worked my way through the ranks, receiving my Captain promotion in December 1993. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career as a police officer, assisting the citizens of Sulphur.

I have received extensive training in DWI Enforcement through the years. I was originally certified on the PEI intoxilyzer, the 4011 ASA intoxilyzer and I am now certified on the Intoxilyzer 5000. I am a field supervisor on the Intoxilyzer 5000 as well. I am certified in the Standardized Field Sobriety Task (SFST), have attended the Northwest Traffic Institute on DWI/Vehicular Homicide, taught classes at the Louisiana District Attorneys Association in DWI enforcement, and have assisted the local D.A.s office with DWI investigations. I have taught law enforcement officers from, most all, the surrounding agencies in the detection and arrest of DWIs. Our department was instrumental in starting mobile videotaping of DWI offenders in this area. To date, I have detected and arrested over 800 DWI offenders. Our court handles approximately 300 DWI cases a year with a current conviction rate of 85%.

If you must drink and drive in Sulphur........ well provide the chaser.
