VEHICLE BURGLARY
INVESTIGATION LEADS TO
ARREST
Thursday, August 21,
2008, Sulphur Police
Detectives arrested
Shawn Stephen Calhoun,
9942 Broussard Road,
Bell City, Louisiana in
connection of local
vehicle burglaries.
Calhoun was booked into
the Sulphur City Jail
for two counts of simple
burglary, unauthorized
use of an access card,
two counts of attempt
unauthorized use of an
access card and
possession of stolen
things.
According to Police
Chief Chris Abrahams,
the defendant on August,
20, 2008 used a
sling-shot and ball
bearings to shatter the
windows of at least two
vehicles in Sulphur
(both at different
locations). Then entered
the vehicles and after
stealing ladies’ purses
from the vehicles went
to L’Auberge Du Lac
Casino where he
attempted to use stolen
credit cards which were
in the stolen purses,
being successfully on
eight transactions on
one of the cards.
Upon apprehended the
suspect, a search of his
vehicle resulted in
officers locating stolen
purses, checkbooks and
other various stolen
items.
Judge Todd S. Clemons
set Calhoun’s bond at
$35,000.00.

Sulphur Police Chief
Chris Abrahams reported
that on August 21, 2008,
officers of the Sulphur
Police Department had
investigated three
traffic accidents with
no injuries and issued
ten traffic citations.
Officers also responded
to several other
incidents resulting in
three arrests.
Kimberli Jewell Guidry,
White Female, Age 34 of
Franklin Street, Sulphur
was arrested and booked
into the Sulphur City
Jail for possession
and/or distribution of
CDS schedule III drugs..
Shawn Stephen Calhoun,
White Male, Age 28 of
Broussard Road, Bell
City was arrested and
booked into the Sulphur
City Jail for illegal
possession of stolen
things, simple burglary
and theft access card.
Willie Joseph Guidry,
White Male, Age 47 of
North Crocker Street,
Sulphur was arrested and
booked into the Sulphur
City Jail for possession
and/or distribution of
CDS schedule III drugs.

SULPHUR
POLICE DETECTIVES
SEEKING INFORMATION ON
HIT AND RUN
On Sunday, August 17,
2008 at approximately
11:55 PM, officers from
the Sulphur Police
Department were
dispatched to Henning
Street near Ruth Street
in reference to a hit
and run.
Upon arrival, officers
identified the location
as Roseland Cemetary and
observed that a large
brick column
had been knocked down.
Also damaged was a pole
approximately four
inches in diameter and
cemented into the
ground. This pole which
served as part of the
entrance, was bent and
broken in half.
Investigating officers
determined that the
damage was caused by a
vehicle determined that
a hit and run crime
occurred.
