    Sulphur Police Chief Ken Moss has announced the promotions of Police Captain Phillip English and Police Captain Glenn Berry to the rank of Police Major. 

    Major English has been a member of the Sulphur Police Department since March 31, 1980. He came up through the ranks with the Sulphur Police Department  from Patrolman to Captain. He served as a shift Supervisor with the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain until January 1, 2000, at which time he became the supervisor over the Patrol Division. Major English has attended numerous schools in Police Management and in subjects such as DWI Investigations and Arrests, Street Survival, Internal Affairs, and many others. He is now the supervisor over the Patrol Division, Reserve Division, Communications Division and the Training Division of the Police Department.  Major English is a member of the Maplewood First Baptist Church and serves there as a Sunday School Director. 

    Major Berry has been a member of the Sulphur Police Department since October 12, 1981. He, too, came up through the ranks from Patrolman to Captain. Major Berry served as a Shift Supervisor with the ranks of Lieutenant and Captain from April 1, 1993 until January 16, 2001. Major Berry has attended many schools in his years as a police officer that include Police Management, Street Survival, Homicide Investigation, Internal Affairs, and many others. He is now the supervisor over the Detective Division, Narcotics Division, Identification Division and the Public Relations/D.A.R.E. Division. Major Berry is a member of Southside Baptist Church in Carlyss and serves there as the  Minister of Music.
